When we booked our place I was not thinking of a venue for Thanksgiving,
but being here now and seeing how our room worked so well for our family
made me very happy!
We pulled in the patio table and made one long table for the family to sit together!
I may have looked a bit crazy to some,
but with the thought of celebrating Thanksgiving
on this trip, signifying our gratitude for so many things,
I had to tuck a roaster and a bit of decor into our suitcases..
And I am not sorry I did!
These two will never remember the first time they met their cousins from Indonesia
but those cousins sure have been happy to play with them.
Preparing the meal in a sparsely supplied kitchen -
extra utensils and chairs appearing with big smiles,
all added to the urgency and gratefulness to celebrate together.
I would not need to say this, but
my heart could barely hold the joy felt around this table.
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his[a];
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

I love that you packed a roaster for this very special family gathering!!! It all looks wonderful and now I wish I too had made your roasted brussel sprouts for our dinner. One of our favourite sides for sure. Everyone looks so happy and the picture of Grampa holding those precious babies is just beautiful. Enjoy the rest of your time together.

What an absolutely perfect occasion. It make me feel happy just to imagine your joy. We do have so much to be thankful for, and it is wonderful when we can share the good times with our kids and grands!
I chuckled at the thought of you flying to Hawaii with a roaster packed in your suitcase. You were determined to have a proper Thanksgiving dinner, and where there's a will, there's a way! It all looks perfect!

Anneliese, knowing you for several years now, I am actually not surprised to read that you packed a roaster and Thanksgiving decor items! It's just what you do...it's evident how much your family means to you. So happy for you to have this experience of Thanksgiving in Hawaii, but especially having everyone all together!
