I saw the idea for these paper bag stars at an Amish Farm tour shop
and it was fun to see how my American Thanksgiving Day visitors got into them!
I bought a few packages of lunch bags and we were set.
For each star we used about eight or nine bags -
gluing the shape of a T on each bag -
the top of the T on the closed end -
stacking them and letting them dry for a bit.
Well, that was the goal. It seemed to work not to let them dry.

The open end got marked off to make a tip.
Stars will vary in size and shape, depending on angles and how much is cut off.
and cut - using sharp kitchen scissors.
Some supervision was needed for the younger ones.
It was fun to see how they fanned out!
Koen imagined himself being a helicopter. (Of course!)
We clipped them with paper clips
so that way they could be closed and stored.
Natalie found out that the cut off parts made fun chains
or crowns.
Just another easy and fun way to
hang out in Mimi's kitchen!

Ohh what a great idea! Will have to remember this when my grandson gets older
What a wonderful craft idea!
What a great idea for a fun time with your grands. An idea to keep in mind for a few years from now.
Pretty! I think I'm going to try this!
This is on my list of doing with the grands. Thanks for picture instructions. Yes these years are precious times. Grandma Gloria
Love those stars. Great idea!
I love how Everly is on the counter. Reminds me of when my girls were that age.
I LOVE those stars and seeing your adorable grandchildren happily creating. I might have to steal your idea for our Sunday School Christmas program. Can't wait to try these.
Thank you, Nancy. Your girls don't jump up on the counter any more? I sometimes wonder what readers will think when they see a toddler on my counter. It looks unsafe but she is aware of where she is. It is where she feels like she is in on the action - not missing out - but it does keeps me close by.
Rosella, I like you idea!
Anneliese, I'm so glad you remembered to do this. I took a picture too but then clean forgot about it! What a great craft to do with the kids.
