We spent the rest of our time in Palm Desert, southern California.
It's one of our favorite places to relax
and there's something akin to feeling at home here ...
we get groceries at Ralph's, unpack our suitcases.
and pretty well settle into a routine.
This is El Paseo Drive, a beautiful street lined with shops and restaurants.
We enjoyed patio seating on both sides of the street.
One night we met up with (my front porch) Judy and Elmer with their friends.
The townhouse we've rented over the years, is on a golf course
which we walked through on our morning walks.
It was closed due to over-seeding at this time.
There are also tennis and pickle ball courts, which we made use of.
One of my highlights was to browse through stores such Target and Hobby Lobby again.
We celebrated our 46th Wedding Anniversary
and asked someone on the street to take our photo.
This one is a little clearer, but I like the first one.
Few photos, but good memories abound!
Our journey home began early morning.
We passed the wind farm on the San Gorgonio Pass
in the San Bernadino Mountains.
It has over 4000 windmills and provides enough electricity to power Palm Springs
and the entire Coachella Valley.
The strip of highway known as the Grapevine for it's
curves and incline.
We also passed through many orchards.
We stayed the night in Southern Oregon and continued on the next day,
gorgeous fall colors replacing palm tress.
The beautiful city of Seattle.
And the beautiful Canada / US border.
We got home in time to hand out candy.
And I'll end with this one ...
the firefighter and his fire.
It's good to be home again.

And just like that, you are back home and we are in the desert! It was so nice to meet up with you on El Paseo Drive last week and hear all about your road trip adventure….through mountains, valleys , canyons and desserts.
What a great trip you had. I enjoyed seeing the various sights through your eyes. Love the photo of your on your anniversary. Wishing you many more happy years together. The fireman and his flames is a very cute idea for a costume.
So happy for you that you could celebrate your 46th Anniversary with this great trip. You captured lots of beauty. Oh boy the number of times we've been on that grapevine in all kinds of epic weather conditions. How fun to be able to greet those sweet trick or treaters. Love the fireman!!
I agree, the first photo is my favorite! I've been out of town so I'm catching up on blogs today. As always, thank you for taking us along on your trip. I enjoy seeing so many new-to-me places and revisiting some that I've passed through many times. It's always fun for me to see Arizona through someone else's eyes, I'm afraid I fall into the trap of taking the beauty of our state for granted.
Curious about the townhomes on the golf course that you have enjoyed. Planning a trip there soon and looking recommendations.
What a great trip you have had and I have enjoyed it virtually.
Sheila, many years ago we booked through a rental agency, and there are many, but eventually one of the townhouse owners asked if we'd want to rent privately from him and that's what we've done. He will not rent to anyone besides our family and one other. You could
look up Desert Falls Rentals. (Ceil Berntsen at Desert Falls Rentals is one). Some places lower the rate if you rent for a month. That's how we've shared as a family.
What a lovely, relaxing way to end your vacation. I look forward to one day browsing through Target and Hobby Lobby. I love the firefighter and his fire.
