Nine Ways from the Fitting Room

It's not a good way to begin a post but, first, I apologize for the poor quality of the photos and, secondly, my inclination to find some faults with this combination. If you still want to, I invite you to walk with me into this particular store at the Outlets Mall. The nice thing was, there were some good sales going on and it was easy to co-ordinate a wardrobe. Some stores don't make it so easy.

First, I chose a pair of linen pants with a fine stripe (not so visible here) and a couple of tops to go with them. A salesclerk came along and asked if I needed help. I'm always happy when they are noteager to start a fitting room. How in the world are you supposed to match things up when they takeyour armload of things away? I prefer if they ask if there is something they can help you find.
I also wanted to try a dress and two sweaters that would fit into the scheme. This dress is too muchthe same color as the pants. If I'd been serious, I would have found another one . . . maybe a dark one with a white (instead of black) sweater.

So there you have a peek into the fitting room! I did not purchase any of these items, even though I liked some of them. So, no need to worry that you will see me wearing these things . . . all the time! A girl would be concerned about that too.

It's a good thing my date is such a great sport. Last time I checked we were still having fun!

Life Giving Springs

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1

. . . for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:9

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace, the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
Isaiah 55: 12

The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
Isaiah 58:11

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Matthew 5:6

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink,
you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
John 4:10

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks
the water I give them will never thirst.
Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water
welling up to eternal life.”
John 4: 13-14

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.
To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.
 Revelations 21:6

The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
Revelations 22:17

Wake Up Call

This morning, before 7:30, a doorbell shattered my sleep on the comfy king size bed. Because the chime sounded just like ours at home, it took me a moment to get orientated. Luckily he was up to get the door. It was the neighbor letting us know what the commotion outside was about. We did not bother telling her that the doorbell was the first commotion we heard. She was very friendly.

He was leaving on his run, so I decided to go for my walk. That is when we saw what was happening. She had called a Crane Co. to uproot a number of palm trees on her property.

Palm trees are part of the natural beauty here. She was out there telling us that they cost about $60 a foot. So she, being on the landscaping committee, had decided to move her trees to another part of the complex. Did she sell them?

Several trees had already been lifted onto the flatbed truck, ready to be hauled off, while a few lay spread out on the street to be picked up on another run.

We watched a small grouping of two trees being lifted onto another truck and continued on our way around the complex . . . me distracted with more photo opportunities and him going around several times, passing me.

At one point we saw the crane ready to deposit the deliverd trees in a spot that was prepared for them. All in a day's work of a shrewd businesswoman.

An Oasis, for Real

Funny thing is, I gave myself a lot of freedom with my last post, making it such that I did not feel obligated to write for a while. I could just be on vacation, right? The thing is, I've been to Palm Springs so often, I really did not expect to see a lot of new things. The problem is, I've become a blogger . . .

we had not even landed when I pulled my trusted Sony Cyber-shot out of my bag, hoping to capture what I saw below.

It truly is a desert! Had I not known what was coming up in just a few minutes, I would have wondered about the great idea of coming here.

From one moment to the next, it is obvious where the watering or irrigation begins

and I was, once again, simply amazed! Water . . . life giving water for parched land. What a difference it makes! The symbolism did not get by me too quickly this time.

We left the airport and, even while driving, I snapped, not wanting to miss the beauty ... the contrast of the palm trees against snow capped mountains.

We rented the little place we are staying at, sight unseen . . . not even photos on the web. It's our oasis.

A place in the desert.  A place to be refreshed.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, Psalm 23:2

A Dream

Nine days of no appointments,
relaxing in the warmth of the sun . . . reading . . .
eating . . . sleeping . . . dreaming ...
some shopping and walking desert trails . . .
just the two of us.
He has worked hard, and will continue some.
Me, not so much. I just come with the package.

It's almost too good to be true and something I wish for others who need it.

All this . . . before our kids' March moving madness begins.
