Buttercups

The park where we've been walking is beautifully displaying its abundance of wild flowers, the more dominant ones being the yellow buttercups right now. These particular ones always bring back happy memories of my childhood. These were the nice yellow flowers - not the bad yellow ones! These were the ones you're allowed to bring inside. When we were children we played a game with these pretty little cups. It intrigued me because I didn't like butter and this flower was supposed to show if you do or don't like butter. We'd hold it under each other's chins and if it illuminated a yellow spot then that person apparently liked butter. Or maybe it was the other way around.

Oh, the simple joys of these childhood games! I just couldn't help but pick a bunch and put them in a mug placed by my kitchen sink, just because.

I was looking back on the Mennonite girls blog for a strawberry jam recipe & found yours. I love that it makes such a large amount but I wasn't sure about sealing the jars. Can I use the inverted sealing method? My freezer really isn't very large so would like to keep in the pantry. Hope you can help me. You can leave a message on my blog. Thanks! Jan

Beautiful pic's! Now I must see if I like butter...or not. I've never heard of the game.

So cute! These buttercups bring back memories of Hatzic for me. I remember cleaning out the outhouse & putting a cup of buttercups on the bench beside the toilet afterward :-)

I actually proudly presented my mother both the good and bad. . .and now I know that one really was bad. . .even though I sort of suspected.
The bad have taken over our field. . and perhaps that is really why they are bad.
But your little bouquet is lovely. . .thanks for the memory.
