A Time for High Waisted Jeans

What was I thinking? I came across this photo when I was re-doing our dating years photo album. I remember the day. I was '16 - going on seventeen' and my boyfriend wanted to take me to Victoria for the day. Even though we'd been hanging out together for a year already, Mom and Dad had a bit of a discussion about it. I really don't know what their problem was! But in the end, I was allowed to go.
Going back to the high waisted jeans! I can take that already - but the tucked in look?

Well, there really is nothing much more to say, except that this wonderful guy fell in love with me (despite the look) and 35 years later, he is still the one taking my picture.

Anneliese, you have stayed so hip and trendy and gorgeous! I hope to be a Mom like you- that keeps with the times, yet doesn't look like you're "trying" to look young. You just do. I trust my two girls will help me with this (fingers crossed). I imagine once a mom shows to her little girls, her appreciation for beauty and taking care of herself, the encouragement becomes reciprocal as her girls grow up... So yeah, just had to tell ya, you're stylin!

Wow...nice post and great shots. You look the same as you did back then...just that the styles have changed and the hair too. But you look as young as you ever did. And Danielle is right....perfectly in style ...as I am sure you were then.

That is so fun. . and I too wonder why I ever wore Seafarers. . .looking back they didn't suit me at all .. and Terry wore them too .. which was even worse.
You wear great clothes. . .and I was so delighted to run into you at Jacob and have a short chat. . and I thought it was very sweet that your husband came by now and then to give you a sip of refreshment to keep you energy up while shopping.

Love the pictures, Anneliese. It brings the following saying to mind although I know you are no-where near 60!
"You can take no credit for beauty at sixteen.
But if you are beautiful at sixty,
it will be your soul's own doing.

Ah shoot...I still like how a trim figure with well fitted waist hitting pants and tucked in shirt. All the memorable movie stars of old used to wear that style. It accentuated their perky breasts, curvy waist and heart shaped backsides. Low slung pants with untucked shirts just aren't up to that kind of job!

High waist pants will come back. In fact, I think they are already starting to return: The newspaper today covered a new fashion accessory for women who favor the low slung pants that expose their backsides when they bend over. The accessory looks like a tube top, and is worn under the pants and up to the waist, and is designed to be seen as various poses dictate.

Hoo boy.

Lookin' good, Anneliese...then and now.

I well remember the highwaisted jeans...and going to Bellingham to buy them. And the hipster jeans that I wore in the ninth grade...with a wide belt. What goes around...comes around...it just doesn't necessarily fit anymore (although on you I think it would).

I still remember one of the boys in my elementary school classes being in love with my Mom!

The good thing about jeans these days is that there is pretty much a style for everybody, depending on what store you shop at. Sometimes it's just hard to find the perfect pair though.

That building behind you looks awfully familiar! :)

I enjoyed reading through your past journals. Fun to see you planting with your mom, I used to love doing that. We have learned so much from them.
And of course those little ones plazing in the garden and smelling flowers...How adorable.
I love your jeans. They all look fantastic.

Oh, you have all been way too generous with you comments! I assumed this was a non paying job! I honestly thought I was quite brave to show that first picture, and was hoping there'd be some who would admit that they also have those kind of photos hidden away somewhere. For everything a season, right? I have seen a very similar look come back, but it won't be me this time.

The tucked in look was in then! I remember the 'body shirts' that had snaps in the crotch to keep them firmly tucked in. Oh - ya - that was earlier with the hip hugger jeans.

You sure are beautiful.
