I was happy about that, since these window baskets are even kind of protected! Which reminds me . . . I didn’t tell you about something. After checking out several places and prices on a large porch awning, we decided to get a smaller (roller) awning where the BBQ is so that we can still barbecue in the rain. Then my H designed a few frames for two of the other windows and had them crafted by an acquaintance. Next he ordered extra material from where we got the one (real) awning and had the frames covered by someone he knew of in the tent business.
So, for less than the one large awning over the deck would have been, we now have a roller awning on one side of the patio where we can move the table under if we have to and a bonus of the two kitchen windows! With newly filled window boxes, we will see if we can enjoy the summer feeling just a little longer . . . even in the rain.

I'm a great fan of winter pansies...they will be replacing my petunias soon.
What a neat idea...to have awnings created over the windows to match! Your patio looks most inviting.
I love winter pansies too .. and if my geraniums knew what I was thinking. . they'd work a little harder on producing a few more stems.
Your awnings are wonderful. I always love that look and can imagine that it provides some nice shade on those windows on hot summer days.
What I love about pansies is when one lone little plant will volunteer to come back the next year! Not sure if that would happen where you are, but it does occasionally here in VA. Always a treat to see that happen, and I think to myself, "What a sweet and brave little plant that pansy is!" Sometimes it's the simple pleasures, isn't it? :-)
Their fabulous Anneliese!
I love how it makes your house look so cozy. I'm sure the flowers & the chef at the grill will love the extra protection too!
A wonderful weekend to you ~ Maria
Anneliese, I just read your comment about the 'heart' clouds photo! ... that's so sweet! Please feel free to send it along to your daughter ... It's like a personal greeting from our Creator!
My husband will smile knowing his photo was so enjoyed. I'm trying to convince him to post more of his camping photos... maybe this will inspire him.
I'm planning a post using a photo he took of a foiled 'camp-site' dinner. It actually turned out edible... although it would never make it in "Mennonite Girls Can Cook!" :)

ps. I love your post on wisdom. I always tell my students that it's wonderful to have knowledge, but priceless and even divine to have wisdom. (I take my chances in public school ;o)
