Yes . . . exactly what I was thinking
when I came across this slide.
I'd seen lots of skin
on shots taken at home, but . . .
On the golf course?
It seems like it was the thing to do . . .
since I noticed that his golfing buddies did the same.
Somehow it was normal and the right thing to do in order to unwind.
at home in our family room. Daddy was home to romp on!
This photo just tells me a lot about the happiness
shared in a simple room.
Allow me to digress.
A small TV that sat on a night table. Obviously, no remote and I remember the cable was easily accessible. Benji found great delight in unplugging it to listen to his sisters screams. No such thing as renting movies, since we had not bought the latest in technology - a VHS player. Family night meant playing hide and seek or maybe snakes and ladders.
And who displays trophies on a fireplace mantle today? Would they not ruin the home decor? But at that time we proudly displayed family achievements.
The round brown vinyl hassock in the background, in front of the fireplace. Oh what fun the kids had with it, setting it on its side to lean against it with their tummy and rock back and forth with. Other times it became a stage to perform on, or maybe just to wheel or race someone around on. After many years it got tossed, looking rather like a worn out trampoline.
Okay. . . so much for the shirtless eighties . . . and blogging while scanning.

Oh the good ole days! This just made me chuckle Anneliese.
oh so enjoyed the skin pics this morning. We talked about it here how much less guys sit in the house without a shirt. Maybe it is something about them becoming mature. .who knows.
We are envying that brown vinyl hassock this morning. Last night we realized that was just what we needed so that we could both have our feet up . . mine on the couch and his on a hassock. .we're going shopping for one today .. maybe to should go to the thrift stores.
What really takes me back is your husband's hairdo. =) Look at that beautifully groomed hair!
I was wondering where you were going with your post...but only to smile...I only remember my man taking off his shirt, while we were haying...or at the beach.
I can't believe golfing with out a shirt...That would be a real NO! No! Today.
Golfing without a shirt?? Now they would be kicked off the golf course if they tried that:) These photos made me smile..thanks for sharing Anneliese!
'Oh the good ole days'...is right. I'm smiling. I prefer skin with clothes on these days...his and mine.
We had a large round hassock on castors (off-white 'pretend leather')...also used as a plaything by the kids. Great memories.
Haha-the shirtless golfing is great! That gave me quite the chuckle-what a fantastic picture to come across!
It's so funny how, at the time, these pictures were just normal ordinary pictures, yet years later they are hilarious! The shorts were very short in those days.
YOu're reminding me to get scanning some of our old shots - happy days indeed! Your babies and mine look to be around the same age.
Too funny. These days on many of the golf coarses T shirts aren't even allowed. You need to wear a shirt with a collar. My how times have changed.
What a hoot! The hair...shirtless...and the SHORT shorts! Yicks! Did our guys really wear them that short?
I just love going back and looking through old pictures and playing back the wonderful times. I remember your kids....and your H from those years.
One day we will look back on today and laugh at style and decor. Loved this post. Kathy
Oh the hassock ... My kids would love one of those!!!
Memories... one of the most precious things we gather and keep as we travel through life!
Shirtless on the golf course toooo funny! but why not get a good tan while you were 'working' !! smile..
We were talking about the romoteless TVs of the olden days... if you were a channel surfer you got lots of exercise!
I love your photos and memories, and what fun that hassock was priviledged to share in! smile
