Papa has a routine with the smallest ones and they remember every time they come in. They get a review of who everyone is.
All day long, I really felt like this could not be happening. I actually wondered how one does a family gathering . .. one in which I suddenly felt like I was my mom. When I first saw this photo, I had this feeling of everything being surreal, like I was in heaven, looking down at the future. How can one suddenly have a table-full of grandchildren eating turkey dinner?
Meanwhile, in the dining room, the table was set only for the adults to enjoy after the kids were done.
I probably enjoyed this time most of all! Eating together and anticipating the rest of the evening.
I realize we are starting traditions with this day and, in years to come, we will have to do the same. I think this is one . . . the grandchildren by the tree. (Landon, Paeton, Tehya holding Koen, Natalie, Makenna and Lacey. This is Makenna's first Christmas in Canada.
Gifts from uncles and aunts were opened before our early dinner. The rest were opened after the adults finished dinner.
Can I say again? It was soooo good to be together!

Beautiful home and decorations...beautiful family and beautiful memories.
So wonderful for you and all the kids to be together! Love all the photos. Look at all those sweet grands sitting by the tree! Precious...
You have waited for this Christmas for a long time...and what a beautiful setting..Cousins eating first and then the adults. I'm sure everyone will remember this for a long time. Kari looks so cute as she staged for the photo at the front door. Another blessing coming real soon.
That is absolutely beautiful! Luuuuuuved the entrance arrival photos! That is a great idea! Your photos tell such a beautiful story.
I so enjoyed seeing your joy! I smiled at the fact that those special couches were not used.

The other Gramma-- Susan
I have been touched deeply - not a dry eye here! My mother did the same entrance picture thing with us for a few years (and there were 8 families arriving at their door!). The little ones ate around the kitchen table before the adults ate as well (there were 24 of them). I love your comment about it being surreal. I too look forward to starting new traditions over the next years! You have a beautiful family and home.
What a blessing to have your kids and grandkids all together for this Christmas. It will be one that you will treasure in your heart. Happy New Year!
