Rock Balancing

A recent Sunday afternoon walk on the Stanley Park seawall took us on a little detour. The tide was out and it was a perfect time to take on a challenge from another "walker" to top off his rock balancing creation.

It was a dare that gave way to some interesting imagination.

While the boys played,

Tehya and I did our own kind of rock balancing as we made our way toward the water's edge
because she wanted to touch the ocean.

Hunkering down to take a good look at the black mussels stuck to the rocks, I could hardly believe that they looked just like the ones I had seen on my friend's dinner plate the night before.
I decided right then and there that it would be a long time until I'd be convinced to try them again.

When we left the beach

we also left some telltale marks behind.

I think the boys proved their abililty as well as their creativity.

We took our spot back on the seawall, headed to the playground
and then to our favorite spot for dinner.
Downtown Vancouver - it's a beautiful place.

What fun! Amazing how much fun you can have with the least little things. Funny about the mussels! :-)

That is amazing! What fun to balance rocks in such a way. I like mussels but I guess one has to know who to prepare them properly!

That looks like so much fun! We will have to try that with our boys too.

They build them like the pros! Good job.

And what is the 'favorite spot for dinner'?

That looks difficult! Is it? I've never tried balancing rocks before. But, it looks like a fun family activity. I love things where everyone can be involved.

The joys of simple pleasures. Thanks for sharing them.

Just playing with rocks...how much fun...once a year JB orders a load of gravel for the driveway so the boys can play...I don't think we will pave it for awhile...
Who doesn't like a day around Stanley Park?

What an unique way to spend an afternoon, playing with rocks. We don't have that activity at our beaches. I would love to spend time at a park like Stanley.

Your banner picture is adorable!

I kind of want to go join in the challenge. Isn't it fun to work alongside others..and there in challenge one another to higher heights?
