Looking Back and Ahead

An American Summer Olympics ad that depicted children practicing and going through all of the rigmarole of preparing, (in my mind - even for life) is one that imbedded itself in a soft spot of my being.

It ended with . . .
"to their moms they will always be kids"

I'm not really sure what this has to do with my Birthday but I do want to say that loving and being loved truly is one of life's greatest gifts!

There are times in life when you just have to stop and think
on what really matters.
This week has led me in that direction.
Songs of God's faithfulness have stirred me as I've remembered
valleys and mountaintops.
I've listened to a friend share her sorrow and yet affirm that God is good.
 He is.
Looking back, the view is clearer than when I was looking ahead.
Looking ahead . . . I do not know the way . . .
Yet,
to Him whose child I'll always be . . .
the way has purpose - it's good.
I know that I can trust His faithfulness.

Great thoughts and a great reminder. It made me think of my fav hymn "Great is thy Faithfulness." I also found many spiritual lessons that could be taken from the Olympics. Thanks for sharing.

What a wonderful post to celebrate your birthday. You will always be a child of God no matter how old you are here on earth. We might not know what happens during our journey but God's presence with us will never change.

Happy Birthday dear Anneliese.

Happy Birthday! Your thoughts remind me of the chorus to a song:
"God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand
When you don't see His plan
When you can't trace is hand
Trust His heart." What a comfort to us, His children! :-)

Happy Belated Birthday to a very special beautiful lady!!! You have the same birthdate as my much loved father! He would have been 96! It is so wonderful to know that he now lives with our heavenly father - how blessed we are to be His children! You have such a beautiful way with your sincere words Anneliese.

Powerful, well thought out words that hold so much truth. You have blessed my heart so much this evening as I carefully read through each post. We don't have any idea what our future holds, but thankfully we do know Who it is that holds it.

I wish you a belated happy birthday!
