Before and After Lighting
The chandelier we chose in 1979 . . .
being shown in it's best light here.
Even though I had became sentimentally attached to it over the years,
if that is possible,
the day came - I was done with it.
The difficult thing is,
how do you choose one, knowing from experience, how long we hang on?
We chose this one.
I had to chuckle when we got home and saw some similarities
I had not noticed in the store.
I like the shades on your new one, very clean lines and up-to-date. I find it funny, too, how much my old stuff and my new stuff go together because I don't stray far from my original palette or tastes. Every once in a while I want to shake things up...
It looks great! I'm smiling...as I can totally identify with hanging onto things for a very long time...and not really being eager to switch to something new.
I really was amused by your posting today. We have a very similar light fixture in our dining room...(since 1977), similar to your old one, that is, and we have chosen one like your new one, but haven't purchased it yet. Is yours the Roxbury fixture by Thomasville? I thought it was an interesting coincidence!
Millie, I think what makes the decision hard when you are updating an older home, is that you do not want too stark of a contrast with what is in the rest of the house. I knew I wanted to introduce some glass or crystal and that is what attracted me to this one. It does not have as much as I really wanted, but for the long run, it's probably good.
I like it! Funny, we just replaced the light fixture over our dining table in June. It had been there since 1987! I think it had been there so long, I just didn't really see it anymore. And then one day, I thought that doesn't even go with this room anymore. Why do we still have it? ha! ha!
That is a beautiful light fixture. The funny thing is that last week I decided it was time to change the one that we have had since we moved into this house. We went to town and had a look around and landed up bringing home new little lanterns to replace the gold ones. No one will know the difference but me. Isn't that often how it is?

Ha! I like the upgrade to the 21st century. Very nice...

Millie, that is funny! You are right on the name. Are you going to get it?
Yes, we intend to buy it very soon! I've been looking at fixtures for a long time and I think this one will fit perfectly.

I love it...a perfect choice. And any similarity just means you have good taste. Love it.

What a good choice you made! Wish I could see it over the table. A new light fixture always makes me happy.
