Ecclesiates 3 - At the Bridge

This fast moving highway has taken us through the seasons of another year.
I look in the rear-view and remember -
the joy of newborn babies,
fun-filled showers and birthday parties.
Other times, held somber moments
at the graveside of one so dearly loved.
We planted flowers
for a season - that's all.
We pruned before Spring growth
and raked dead leaves in Fall.
We heard of war, famine and killing.
We helped out in need,
and prayed for healing.
We wept - our hearts breaking.
We laughed again -
our hearts bursting.
We gave
and we took.
We embraced in goodbyes -
 receiving kisses through Wi-fi.
We lost and we won.
We set up and tore down.

All through the seasons
we keep learning
there is a time to tear and a time to mend,
A time to keep and a time to forget.

And as I cross this bridge into the yet unknown
I take delight in knowing Him who knows the way.
I pray I keep learning -
when to be silent
and when to speak.
What to love and what to hate.
Trusting through the laughter and the tears
in the One who orchestrates our years -
making all things beautiful in their time.

Wishing a blessed 2013 to you!

What a great prayer to take forward into the great unknown that is 2013. The past year, with its good and its hard (the word comes from Judy)is a good springboard, full of lessons.

What a wonderful poetic recap Annleise. We don't know the future...but with God at our side, we have the strong faith that he will walk through our situations once again.

You sure do have a beautiful way of writing and sharing your heart. You are right, crossing the bridge is peaceful when we know He leads the way and walks with us.

Happy New Year to you!

Thank you for these thoughts Anneliese - they sum up what all of us have experienced in this past year and the hopes and prayers we have for the coming year. Happy New Year.

Annaliese - your writing is a confirmation of what I thought coming into the new year. Last night I read the Ecclesiastes verses "there is a time" in my devotions...and this morning when I awoke my song for the new year - the one that first enterred my mind -was "In His Time". Happy 2013!

What a beautiful post Anneliese! We must cross that bridge and don't know what's on the other side! That is scary but it is so comforting to know that our special "GPS" (God and Personal Saviour) will guide our way! Thank you for the way you encourage and for your sweet spirit! Many blessings in 2013.
