In the past year I've been gifted with several large mugs which I have found are practical for serving things such as custard, gravy, porridge or any comfort food eaten with a spoon.
I have also enjoyed using some of them as vases. Last summer my green soup mug held bunches of raspberries
and now I have a .... how do you spell that?
hyacinth ... budding in there.
Who knew how much fun a mug could be?
But then . . . it's not just any mug
when it's been given to you by someone special.
Oh... and a happy first day of Spring today!

Happy First Day of Spring 2013 Anneliese
I just heard (CBC) that in olden days Spring was celebrated with gift giving, feasts and going to a source of water, a spring? and giving thanks.
I don't think I'll find any running water around here, except in my tap. I can hope.

So pretty Anneliese! Happy first day of Spring to you and yours too. Spring isn't Springing quite yet in our neck of the woods but we are hopeful. Your bun recipe today looks amazing on MGCC. I want to quit work and just stay home and bake! Love it.
love the raspberry bouquet

Such lovely mugs and bouquets. Happy spring to you too Anneliese. I have to laugh when I think of spring and look outside at our 6 ft. snowbanks -- I don't think I will be getting on my gardening gloves anytime soon.

Love that idea...a spring bulb in a mug! I have some special mugs over here as well...that I like to use for more than just drinking coffee.
Very fun! Happy Spring indeed! Did I say I love your new template yet?
I love plants in mugs..I esp like the hyacinth. Definetly looks like spring!
