A surprise awaited me on the Sunday morning after the concert.
My H had made a breakfast appointment with a business friend and, kind of reluctantly, I went along. It was, after all, a bakery that we were meeting at!
Our friend, who had chosen the venue, had no idea how this would intrigue me! While I was gawking at the fun in that kitchen, he asked me what side of the table we'd want to sit at in reference to one he had picked a bit farther away. Smiling, I said, I want to sit right here in front of this window!
On one side of the large table, large amounts of yeast dough get weighed out and shaped into,
what look like, large thick pizza shells.
On the other side of the table someone puts the tray into the machine.
It closes and jiggles for a few seconds
It was amazing to see how this could be done! Having shaped buns by hand almost all my life =)
I've wondered how a machine would do it. The tray went back to the table, where another cook spread them out on large baking sheets, to rise and bake.
As was the French toast!

I think that's the same bakery that Ellen took us to last year...maybe not. I love that big work Island, except I don't think I want to work like that anymore.
Great tasty place for a business meeting.
Wow, that french toast looks amazing! I would have sat by the window too, watching the bakers. Very interesting.
What a perfect choice for breakfast for you!!
That brought back a lot of memories. While I wasn't a baker, I did work in a bakery, so I saw a lot of bun making! What a great idea to put a viewing window in!!
So fun and the French toast looks amazing.
I'm glad I'm not reading this on Saturday morning or it would send me on a quest for something similar!...and I'm afraid I wouldn't find it.
Isn't it fun how an outing that we weren't looking forward to turns out so exciting? You had a most wonderful window with a view! I would have loved that too. Now I'm starving for a piece of that French Toast.....
BTW - that shot of the shelves laden with bread is beautiful - postcard worthy! Glad you had your camera with you!
What a treat for you! And that french toast...my goodness! Yum!
What a great 'window with a view', Anneliese! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I would like to visit that bakery one day myself...to sit, watch and eat.
I think that was the bakery that we were at with Marg and Judy but I never saw a window that you could see them preparing the dough for baking. Anneliese that french toast looks amazing!
My seat would have been exactly where the one you chose was. How fascinating to watch that process, while having a hot cup of coffee at my fingertips, not to mention that amazingly good looking french toast. So interesting.
