(my mom and dad in front of our first home in Canada, circa 1967)
I may not be born in Canada . . .
but I'm a Canadian because
many years ago, my father made it one of his main ambitions,
doing all he could, to get his young family here!
In a sense, I am adopted . .
into the true north strong and free . . .
And I could not be more proud of this place we call home!
There are times, choice can have more meaning than chance.
May God keep our land,
so glorious and free,
a place where our children's children and those who come after
will know we've been given much, so that we can give.

Lovely post, Happy Canada Day Anneliese!!
Happy Canada Day to you and yours!!
Beautiful! So thankful your Dad make those sacrifices so long ago.
I pray our free countries will always remember the sacrifices that were taken for freedom. I am so thankful that the country bordering us up north values freedom and Gid's grace, and wish every country in the world could be in such peaceful coexistence with their neighbors.
Oh the foresight of our fathers!!! Happy Canada Day to you and yours and many generations to come!
I can't imagine all the sacrifice and hardship your parents - and my great-grandparents - experienced in order to bring us to this land. It makes you thankful! Glad your Canada Day was happy.
I too am thankful for our country. How wonderful that God lead your parents in this decision. Love the photo.
