Not an Ordinary Night

It was just an evening of mini golfing . . .

the girls enjoying their team

and the boys theirs . . .

But the evening had an unexpected outcome when Paet
went to fetch a ball out of a flower bed for someone . . . and got stung by a wasp.
The group finished the game . . . but as we watched the progression of welts,
swelling and coughing . . . the hospital was the next place he visited.

When the  nurse explained the procedure, and how it could affect his heart,
his mom wanted to talk to his dad . . . but the nurse said,
"there is no decision to make here."

It hit me . . . no decision . . . but there was!
The decision to save his life was there.

Our kind, precious boy is with us today
because the right decisions were made as the evening progressed.
As adults prayed and sympathising cousins gathered around a table to make cards  . . .
the Lord gave the gift of life.

Oh, that we would take note of
the miracles of even ordinary nights!

So glad Paet is ok! Allergic reactions can be fatal and that is something that we would never want to see in this day and age. The gift of life is precious.

So thankful for this post and the way the story ends. Life is indeed so fragile and it is so gracious of God to give his parents the heads up in a safe place that their boy has such a severe allergy.

Oh wow! Scary stuff! Guess he will join those that need to carry an epi pen with them against allergies....we know all about that in our family. So glad he is ok!

How quickly life can change, and a fun evening can turn into an emergency. I am thanking God for His direction and His leading for your precious little grandson.

Oh my So sorry that happened, but so glad he is Okay.I can imagine how scary that was. Grateful there were .knowledgeable people to care for him

What a scare! I'm glad he is okay; he probably recovered faster than you adults who had to stand by watching and praying.
We have friends with a 5 year old girl who is fighting for her life right now against a rare form of leukemia. It is so hard to be helpless against the suffering--except in prayer.

So thankful the death sting was over come by meds in this case. So glad that our Savior takes care of the other kind.
My husband has been near death due to a sting twice. He carried a kit with a shot for years and used the shot more than once as we raced to the hospital...there is no"wait and see" time for him. Eventually he had the series of shots to make him less vulnerable but the kit must always be at hand still.

It was so beautiful to see the whole family work together and care for each other in this emergency ... Kristal suggesting 911 meet us, Ben driving & staying as long as he could with us in ER, Oma praying & bringing some of Paet's favourite treats over, Dad running to get the care card, you & Dad babysitting our girls for the night ... So thankful to our Heavenly Father for the timing & place to learn of this allergy!
