While the beginning of this year had me thinking on how to handle my gift of a new year,
daily life can have a way of making me forget my quiet time aspirations
on how to pursue love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
It is interesting just to take note of how one can capture these qualities around us . . .
if only to remind us.
It may be seeing someone . . .
tuck some bills into a homeless person's cup,
whistle a happy tune as they work
clear up a misunderstanding
visit a sister in a care home - one who will not even remember
allow another to go ahead in the line-up
show integrity
give another the benefit of a doubt
not lose their cool
My H and I were out for dinner with two young grandchildren one evening and
when the waitress came to give us the bill,
my H stared at it in confusion.
An act of kindness by someone who wished to remain anonymous.
Has this ever happened to you?
It is amazing what an encouragement this is to go and do likewise.
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds . . .

What an unexpected blessing, and how cool that it happened as an example for your grands, too! I love these kind of stories.
How cool, I'm sure none of you will forget that too soon. One story I do have is about my trip to Africa a few years back. I was at one of our local thrift stores and I picked out a shopping cart full of gently used clothes for kids, that we would be handing out There was a lady behind me in the line who when she heard what I was doing passed her Visa card to the cashier and said she was paying for these clothes. I was so overwhelmed I started to cry.
What a neat act of kindness!
KIndness leads to kindness. THanks for the encouragement to pass it on.
That is so cool and a good thing to make us think of how we can bless those around us, too.
Yes, it has happened to me! We did not know a soul in the restaurant because we were 28 hours from home. We felt so blessed, and have since then done the same for others! What a fun time it is wondering what the reaction will have been.
What a great story Anneliese! Things like this really do make us kinder and remind us of the good in mankind!
What kindness. This is the second time this week that hearing of such kindness has filled my heart.
I am hearing more and more about these random acts of kindness. It has happened to us too, with coffee, and we have been doing it to others, especially at the drive through. It gives me an amazingly happy feeling when I can do this anonymously. I like to think kindness is spreading in our little town.
Oh, how wonderful...what a surprise and I bet you sure would love to find out who the giver could be.
Reminds us to continue giving whether it be Christmas nor not.
Most special! Your story is an encouragement to bless people all year round...just because.
I love that, Anneliese !
I'm sure the joy of the act of kindness will continue to bless the giver of it!
What an unexpected blessing! Just like our Father to encourage you in that way!
What a lovely and unexpected blessing!
Love the sweet faces in the van too!
