On A Hill Far Away

Jesus left the city and went to the Mount of Olives, as he often did, and his followers went with him. When he reached the place, he said to them, “Pray for strength against temptation.”
Then Jesus went about a stone’s throw away from them. He kneeled down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take away this cup of suffering. But do what you want, not what I want.” Then an angel from heaven appeared to him to strengthen him. Being full of pain, Jesus prayed even harder. His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
Luke 22: 39-44

Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals one on the right and one on the left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing.”
One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Christ: Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him, “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23: 32-34, 39-43

It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.” Luke 23: 44-47

I spent a bit of time. . reading hymns of Jesus atonement of my sins yesterday. . .the words have so much meaning .. .and memories. . but nothing is as precious as the Bible.

Looking forward to someday when we can all exchange the old rugged cross for a crown, where his glory forever we'll share!

Happy Easter to you and your family, Anneliese!
