It was announced at the game that Vancouver Canucks fans are the most loyal fans in the whole NHL! I was wondering if we could be included in that assessment, as we listened to the final 5 minutes while driving away in our car. The game was near over and Colorado was winning 4 - 0, so had we decided to beat the other 18000 fans in the rush to get home. Apparently others had followed suit, as the radio announcer continued to ramble and note that the up side was that the players would be able to make a quick get-a-way at the end.
But not all was lost! The company was good and the food was good. As we sat down in our seats with our tiny cardboard trays, I mentally calculated the number of fruit and vegetables I'd had earlier in the day. Five servings, borderline, but good to go. I sat back and enjoyed my Whitespot original burger and thick slices of fries. I noted that the skin was even left on the potatoes. After a while, my date realized that I was cold and got up to stand in line to get me a coffee and churro. Yes, these were the good parts of the game.
Oh, and another point I should mention is that the Canucks have earned themselves a spot in the playoffs so, as the season comes to an end, we will still be able to enjoy the best part at home.

Yea Canucks! but I can't believe that you actually left early. When I got married that became a NO No!!
But anyways, we also had a beautiful Whitespot hamburger after our flight from Palm Springs. It's a comforting food and I finally asked them to turn off the air-conditioning.
Those fries are so good.
I love dates. . .even ones where the team doesn't win. I love whitespot burgers too .. .and good for you to do a health assesment upon biting in. . .
I'm glad your time was well spent.
No way, you guys were at the game last night?!?! My Dad and Adrienne were there too!! I guess you didn't happen to see them amidst the 18,000 other fans =) I watched the final period at home and was disappointed with the result knowing that my Dad & Adrienne were there. But now that I know you guys were there too it makes me even more disappointed that you all didn't get to see an exciting game =( So sad that they lost, but glad you guys got a nice date night out and enjoyed it anyway!
Love, Bonnie
Go Canucks! My husband is Canadian (born in Toronto but naturalized).
What are Whitespot burgers?
Sounds like a fun evening to me!
White spot is a line of restaurants on the west coast of Canada, known especially for their hamburgers, that come on a toasted bun and a secret signature triple O sauce. Another distinct feature is that kids can get a pirate pack, where their meal comes inside a pirate ship with ice cream and a gold coin as an extra surprise.
They used to have quite a few drive-in restaurants, where you'd park and a server would come to your car to take your order. Then he'd bring your food on a long tray that came right across both seats of the car, attaching to both windows. That way we could listen to the music we wanted to (in the old firebird) and enjoy dinner right in the car.
I don't think there are too many drive-ins left, but if you ever visit Vancouver, be sure to visit a White Spot.
So fun.... we watched at home and were a little surprised at the game...but I guess that is what makes it a "game!" Being a social spectator is not all bad either, it sounds like. Food, a date, entertainment..all good!
