Yesterday . . . those of us who could . . . left our kitchens and posting . . . to do some field work. . . or rather . . . find some other interesting things to report on. We met first thing in the morning and headed to La Conner, where we had arranged to meet with Ellen.

Ellen is the one sitting between Kathy and Lovella, here at the Seeds Bistro. Marg and Judy are across the table. This was the first time we met Ellen in person, after sharing a blog for 22 months, and it wasn't strange at all. She had driven about an hour north for this meeting and even came with a little gift for each of us. We had a great time chatting it up during a little walk in town and having lunch. After lunch she left us, since she had already been to the tulip fields last week.

We parked at Tulip Town, watching the grey skies and shivering in the cold breeze.
Lovella, in her cute wind and water resistant attire, set out as our tour guide.

I soon forgot about the cold, while Marg wondered why, on her farm, they are growing corn!
I watched the professionals to see how it's done . . .
and proceeded to take my own pictures . . .
It really wasn't hard.
Actually it was hard to stop.
The variety and the colors were breathtaking!

On our walk back, another friendly customer offered to take our picture. Poor guy, he didn't realize that meant five cameras! We made it back to safe cover just before the rainstorm hit.
The food, the flowers, the stop at the mall . . . I enjoyed it all so much . . . but I realized that what I really enjoyed the most was the sharing we could do as we walked and during our drive. It's all about relationships . . . without them the things we do would not have much meaning. Thank you my friends . . . and to those of you who could not be there, you were not forgotten. One day it will be all of us.

What a wonderful day...and I find it most rewarding that I have found new friends over the past three years, because we shared an interest in values, cooking and blogging.
I can't wait for the next event.
Beautiful photos Anneliesse. I wanted to ask you a question that I never got around to....next time :0)
Anneliese. . .such a fun review on our day together. I loved your pictures. . and I so agree that it wouldn't mean half as much without the bond we share and the friendship we have easily forged.
Now I wonder what Ellen never got around to asking you. . .we are a curious bunch aren't we?
Oh I love the pictures! Especially the one with the kites in the sky. What an amazing place and time!
PS: Keep meeting long enough and the question will eventually be "Now who are you again???" over and over again.
Eeekkkkk!
Great pictures, Anneliese - I'm so sorry to have missed the field trip but hope to make it to see the tulips tomorrow with my neighbour. Thanks for sharing your day.
Nice photos. I can see why you didn't want to stop taking more!
Ellen... now you have me curious...
what did you want to ask me?
What a great time we had. Like you...I realize it is the relationships that make an outing most meaningful!
Great pic's, Anneliese. You are so right...it was hard to stop taking photos!
What a great outing! I have wanted to take my girls to La Conner, but during tulip time is an added attraction for sure!
such a great idea for a field trip! And i absolutely love your pictures of the tulips! I definitely can see how it would be hard to stop with so much good stuff to photograph!
Beautiful tulip shots..although the shots of the mgcc girls interested me a lot more:) So much fun!!
Beautiful! I must make it down there one year!
Absolutely BREATHTAKING!!! The field picture with the kites nearly took my breath away! You all look so cute in your wind-breakers :-)
I've enjoyed seeing the tulips and the blogging friends through all the different lenses :) Glad you had such a wonderful day!
So beautiful! I love your perspective...great pictures! It's been so long since we were there....
I have been drooling over you gal's tulip pictures. I have permission from Judy and Lovella, I would sure like permission from you to, to use your first photo for some watercolor paintings I am attempting?
I was particularly interested in seeing the MGCC girls. I was under the impression that all of you girls have been friends for years. I was surprised to read that you only met Ellen recently. How did that come about?
To a woman Who Is ....thank you for coming by. You go right ahead and paint! I'd love to see it when you are done.
to Lorrie: You are right, some of us have known each other for years ... I have known Lovella and Kathy for about 30 years. Marg and Judy have daughters that my girls went to school with ... (I made the connection after we began blogging). Bev, I also made a connection with her when we found out we had mutual friends. Julie, I just met about 1 1/2 year ago, when we had our first MGCC get together. Ellen I just met. Charlotte and Betty I have not met.
Lovella is the common denominator here, who had all the connections through her blog. Somehow our common interests brought us together, even though when we first decided to post recipes on a shared blog, we had no idea where it would lead. I began my personal blog as a result of enjoying the recipe blog.
