1. A King size bed is nice for vacations, but I’m glad I don’t have to make one up every day.
2. Our ensuite is not big, but everything has it’s place and I don’t have to fish things out of bags.
3. I prefer having a smaller closet that is full of clothes, to a walk-in closet with just a suitcase full.
4. I love that I can exercise and sit on the carpet, knowing it’s clean.
5. I love that my mom lives close and feels free to leave soup, pie, milk, Havarti cheese and veggies to welcome us home, not to mention that most of our extended family is here.
6. Life is empty without friends and this is where our friends are, ever ready to pick up where we left off and do something.
7. Home is about being close to a body of believers that we fellowship with and grow with together. It’s not quite the same being a stranger somewhere on vacation.
8. The rooms in the house have character, holding treasured memories. Books, photo albums, knick knacks tell stories. My projects are close at hand.
9. My kitchen – oh, can I say I love my kitchen? A kitchen where I can find the ingredients to bake to my heart's delight . . . and share the joy with others.
10. My walking friend is waiting for me
It’s been raining, there are piles of laundry to be done and I have a dentist appointment this morning . . . but it’s good to be home!

welcome home anneliese.
what a wonderful way to be welcomed home with food given lovingly and love to greet you, and welcome you back.
I'm a big fan of HOME myself!
Welcome home! You are content! I so love how your mom still blesses you in this way. My dad still does that for us too and it warms the heart. We have had great models!
Dentist and laundry...sounds like you are back in the swing...but it's good. I'm sure you will have something wonderfully tasty on the table for supper tonight. Kathy
Welcome home Anneliese! Yes it's always good to come home! Love your reasons :0)
There's no place like home! There's no place like home!
Welcome Home Anneliese. Those are wonderful points. I always love coming back home...knowing everything sort of has it's place.
Guess what? The sun is finally shining. Time for a walk.
Welcome back to your own nest. It's good to have one--a blessing.
I know that feeling - there is no place like home! Glad that you are home safe & sound :)
Love, Bonnie
Welcome Home indeed!!! I missed you sooooo much and was so thankful that the wind died down and the rain stopped long enough for us to walk this morning! Now all is well with the world again. :-)
Oh Anneliese. . I love your ten reasons to be home and can see the contentment you have within you. what a joy to have a welcome home from your mom like that. . .oh so sweet.
We missed you too. . .welcome home.
Welcome home! I can so identify with your reasons for being happy to be back 'where you belong'.
Did you walk in the storm this morning?
After I came home from the big trip with Oma, everybody would ask, "how difficult is it getting used to normal life again?" I would respond, "not difficult at all. There is a reason it is normal." And that is the great part of having a home. :)
There are lots of places that are fun to visit, but there really is no place like home. Welcome back!
Ten Reasons Why I Love Coming To Your Home, Mom:
1. A Queen size bed is ready waiting for us with gorgeous linens (and our very own mattress).
2. The bathroom shower is filled with amazing smelling shampoo & body wash.
3. There are usually a couple new clothes awaiting us in the closet.
4. Your carpet is the cleanest in the world.
5. There are amazing treats ready in the fridge and in the freezer ... things that we only dream of here.
6. Many friends that I went to Sunday School, Elementary School & Highschool with are still nearby your house.
7. We can attend church in English and be challenged by great sermons.
8. Your home is full of my memories too.
9. Your kitchen is like a magazine to me.
10. My walking friend is waiting for me.
Love you, Mom.
That's a great list of 'good reasons' to be home. It's good to have you back Anneliese.
I loved this post! I love being home too. (Alough Lacey is missing PS so much she cried and cried for days!) But there is something important I need to tell you...you don't actually have to make the bed on vacation!! *phew* now you know! haha
Haha, Kari! NOW I know... the only problem is that I feel like
(a)the day has not really begun until the bed is made
(b) my world sort of feels like the bed looks
BUT - having said that, I did compromise and only made it part way . . . just enough to feel order.
The day doesn't start until your bed is made...hmmm. I thought that's what putting in your contacts was for! Maybe you should only put your contacts in when you're already downstairs so that you can't see your bed! Then take them out at the end of the day downstairs, then quickly jump into bed blind (it will be already cozied up from where you left it in the morning) and it will be like you never left. Think of all the time you'll save! haha! You're so lucky to have me come up with these great ideas for you! :)
I AM lucky! smile ... A lot of emphasis is put on how a mom shapes her children, but the reverse is true too!
