It takes a number of trips back and forth, but I'm always happy when they come to understand that we actually live in a house far away.
Now, with their most recent move, our American grands seem yet a little farther away. I know this is only because it's not a direct flight any more. And that is what troubles me because, where before there would be smiling faces all around at the end of the flight . . . now I have that layover or two and maybe a shuttle to think about. And how will I ever know exactly what I will find there?
I can speak. I can read. I don't know why I stress.
I have come to see that (do I dare say?) as an older adult, I am continually being challenged to learn new things . . . oh, and maybe especially so . . . not just in regard to technology, but also in how to get places. I hardly dare drive into Vancouver, but you will find me at an airport in Denver or even Taipei on my way to see my grandchildren. What is that?
I guess it's just a way of life for us. . . and it's all good . . . I will see them soon.

Cute pic of those dear little ones..
I feel the same way when I travel. As you said 'I can speak so why stress'!
Pretty new Anneliese. .it suits you perfectly.
OH ..boy if my grands lived far away I'd tackle the shuttles and what not all too. .But. .I sure do understand the stress. .you'll be fine. .we'll pray you there safely.
Pretty new template .. you are pretty too ..buy not new.
Sorry your new route adds stops & stresses...but you'll be fine...when you see those smiling grands at the other end!
Oh can I ever identify with you. When I travel to my brothers place I stress for days about the trains at the airport...even though I can speak and read...I get all confused. I ask and they say...just read the signs it's all very clear. It is at that point I really begin to wonder about myself.
Such little cutie pies you have there. I loved how you described their understanding of where you live. These little people in our lives keep us smiling. Kathy
Love that photo...too cute! Ahh yes the ins and outs of air travel. Happy to hear you'll be discovering a new airport soon. If you are going where I think you are going it's a nice airport...way out in the middle of nowhere but a lot nicer then LAX!
Oh but think of the ADVENTURES you will have! Nothing is so boring as a crone who can only natter about dusting and cooking and far away babies. Soon you'll be zipping over to Vancouver for lunch, heading to Seattle for a show, or maybe even to places where English (both Canadian and American!) is not spoken.
Fun days are ahead for you...be brave...the Lord is available for travel time as well you know.
I too, forgot to tell you...I love your template...That's so much fun to play and redo those kind of things. You are so right...it takes much more energy than before...continuous learning from technology.
But you have one thing right...You go straight to the heart of those little ones, and nothing stops you.
Have a good day. Stay determined.
oh boy, you sound like my mom! im sure glad that we are living in a 'direct flight place' for her... she rarely drives to vancouver either ( i dont think she has in years and years) and layovers and shuttles would stress her out too... youll be fine though plus your layover probably isnt in like Chicago (the #1 worst airport in America, especially for layovers) so it might be fun to explore a new airport!
cute pics of the grands! They are indeed sweet. And layovers do indeed make the trip a little longer, but sometimes it's fun to discover airports or to have time on your own to simply enjoy being with nowhere you need to go and with nothing that needs to be done.
You make me smile! :-) I will be praying for you as you head out on your own tomorrow for a brand new location in a new state! What we don't do to see our grandbabies! Have a wonderful visit with them.
Have a WONDERFUL time!!!
Ohh . I so understand you!
I wouldn't drive into Vancouver...but put my grandkids in the middle of 'nowhere' and I would find them - somehow!! smile
