You need a cutting board, something to use as an edge for cutting, a good knife, wallpaper glue and a brush.
Choose a corner to start. Brush a section of the wall, as wide as the paper, with glue. Cut the length you need to cover, plus an inch or two extra and put it on the wall, making sure the corner fits well.
Follow suit by applying the next section of glue and add the next strip of paper. The paper we used had no pattern repeat so that made it real easy.
After each strip or two, trim along the base
and ceiling or, in this case, the chair-rail, keeping the knife firmly pressed against the object you are cutting. ( The white on the chair rail is primer that got covered with new paint later.)
If the blade is changed often enough, and the paper is firmly pressed into the crease, the cut goes well and looks tidy. And that's about it.

The original owners and builder of our current home put paintable wallpaper on the walls and the ceilings! It definitely gives depth and texture and is not near as boring as plain old drywall walls! Plus it seems to be so much more forgiving for finger prints and dents...an important feature when it comes to grands running around the house! Enjoy (both the wallpaper and the grands!)

We sure have done our fair share of wallpapering. Most of it turned out really well but I do remember a few strips where I had to add a smidge to the top where I had not allowed for enough. Those were the good old days. Seeing you do this paintable wallpaper makes me feel like I could do it again. Our marriage managed quite well through the first era of papering. ..so we should be good to go.
Well, you make it seem easily enough. I have to say though, I've not had such success. Can't wait to see the picture once everything is all done!
I've wallpapered plenty in my life, but never done paintable wallpaper. I hope you'll post a picture of the finished walls. It's gonna be pretty, I bet1
We became very familiar with this paper when we lived in Germany. I love the depth it gives to a wall.
I dream of being good at decorating. You and your H are a great team with a good eye and looks like a steady hand.
