Continuing on with my review of Beth Moore’s, Believing God, study … I just want to take out a few more nuggets.
We see this, when two Israelite men enter Jericho to spy out the land and find shelter in the home of Rahab, the prostitute. When she finds out who these men are, she tells them, "I know the LORD has given you this land . . . We are all afraid of you. Everyone in the land is living in terror... For the LORD your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below. Now swear to me by the LORD that you will be kind to me and my family since I have helped you. Give me some guarantee that when Jericho is conquered, you will let me live, along with my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all their families." (Joshua 2:9-13)
I believe that God led these spies to the home of a woman who was willing to believe God and help send these men on their way to safety. In the end, when the walls came down, everyone congregated in her home was saved. Rahab, the prostitute is listed as one of the heroes of faith in the New Testament.
I took a bit of a side-tour there … but coming back to the walls … I have also stood at my personal wall of Jericho. The wall of debt … the wall of divorce . . . the wall of debilitating illness . . .and death . . . the wall of distance from loved ones and other disappointments.
Beth’s study challenges us to ask God to give us insight into the wall that stands between us and our promised land. .. and then ask Him to give us grace to do what He says… to trust and obey . . . rather than to despair or follow our own way.
"Even the saddest things can become, once we have made peace with them, a source of wisdom and strength for the journey that still lies ahead." Frederick Buechner
If it’s the walls in our life that cause us to call out to God and experience delivery that eventually brings praise to Him, how else would we be able to see what He can do?

Thank you for this timely post Anneliese. I too have stood at 'my wall' many times and it has led me to lean on God and to trust and obey.
There is so much I could say in response to this post, but to keep it short: I have been facing a huge wall of my own for the last two months. It still seems immense, but I am seeing God take it down a brick or two at a time. At times, I'm tempted to pick up a brick & put it back in place, but God gently reminds me that it would be counter-productive. He has been speaking SO CLEARLY to me as I seek His strength & peace, and your post today is just another affirmation that He is in this with me. To not despair. To have hope. To wait - that's the hardest one for me.
This morning I thank you for taking the time to post this & I wish you many blessings from our loving Father.

Wonderful post Anneliese. It is such a good reminder and who of us has not stood at the wall at one point in our lives. .and we will continue to face walls on this earth.
Wonderful thoughts. Trust and Obey really seems to be the essence of our journey and whether we are discouraged or hopeful.
Thanks for your thoughts allowing God to 'use' the walls in our life. I like the quote be Frederick Buechner...that even the saddest things can become a source of wisdom and strength for our journey.
A very moving post. Thank you for being so open with us. And for reminding us that walls have a purpose.
Love this one Anneliese. I have stood at my wall so many times in my life and needed to find the strength to lean on God and allow Him to let the wall tumble down. Love it today!
Thanks for including the Beuchner quote; it speaks hope to me just now.
Really nice.....love your thoughts and insights. Thank-you!
