If you travel overseas, you will notice that hanging out the laundry is still a very popular thing to do. Driving or walking down the road, you will see the wash hanging on fences, trees, railings ... anyplace it can catch some warmth and sun.
I love the memory of going for a walk with Julene in the morning and seeing the women visiting across the lane from each other as one was hanging her her laundry and the other was delivering fresh produce to a home. It's a very different way of life . . . and the kind of life that is more normal for our grandchildren there than our North American way.
Julene posted this photo of their wash day . . . showing that even play can take on another form. I'm sure it kept the kids busy for a while. And busy kids makes for a happy mom! A happy mom . . . a contented Grammy. Doll clothes are easy to send.

How fun!!! You don't have to travel too far to see wash on lines...I hung out Jody's laundry in Texas last week!!
Love that dolly wash line! So sweet!
I love seeing laundry hanging on the line. One of my favorite memories of Newfoundland is that of wash lines of laundry blowing in the wind.
Doll clothes on the line make a sweet picture...as does the washer girl!
OH for the small and simple joys. ..I also love washlines and have had one ever since I was maried.
I love to see clothes drying on a line! Such wonderful memories of helping my mother hang clothes and using the long pole to lift them high in the blowing breeze. Then bringing them in - they smelled so good! Thanks for the reminder of a good memory!
I was adoring this photo on Julene's blog last night - too cute!
I have to laugh - as my Girlfriend in Saskatchewan forwarded me your comment left on her blog (Teacher Appreciation Week) - I'm on her blog as an administrator and that's probably why you think/thought it was me - but it's totally not! Just so you know! I am on her blog as administrator to give her a hand if a question arises with how to do this or that with blogging. ;) Thanks for commenting though - I'm sure my friend, Jamie, appreciated it!!
What wonderful photos..nothing like line dried clothes. And the little doll clothes, how cute:)
I love the smile!
I can't wait until it is warm enough here to hang the wash again. We hang it all summer long and it is a much looked forward time. The entire family shares in the responsibility of hanging the clothes and no one seems to mind.
Hanging laundry is one of my favorite spring and summer chores. It's kind of a zen thing for me; therapeutic.
We love you, Grammy! Thank you for the new doll pjs!
