How do you pop your pop corn?
Our Indonesia kids are used to stove top and our Colorado kids, microwaved, I assume . . .
because the way it gets done in this house turned out to be a form of entertainment.
If you've gotten used to microwaved pop corn ...
maybe it's time to go out and get a pop corn maker.
Add a little butter and salt.
There's nothing like it!

One year, Isaac and I grew our own popcorn...even better!! Looks like a fun evening at Grammy's!
Ahh - what a sweet post. Your grandchildren are adorable and they have the bestest Grammie I think! Popcorn is a staple in our house (it's Sunday night supper and evening snacks throughout the week). I have an old aluminum pot that I use just for this - it looks horrible but does the best job for stove top popping. Grape Seed Oil for popping, sea salt and browned butter are our favourite toppings!
Stove top in our home!
Popcorn is the best!! Our kids ask Dave to bring the popcorn popper over to make them popcorn for a snack....delicious!
I love that grandkids-in-a-row shot!
I'm thinking there may have to be popcorn with our movie tonight.
We've done it all - hot air, microwave, electric thingamajig, but I think I prefer stove top. Although it's not nearly as entertaining as hot air, judging by the looks on your sweet grandchildren's faces.
Love the movie crowd on the couch!
Very sweet.
My word verification is "foravan"...trying to figure out how I can make van work with this post.
I finally had to give up our old airpopcorn maker...but now I am hungry for it again.
I noticed...there is a blanket underneath them all....for easy shake out later.
You are good...and smart Mimi.
Movie night with popcorn and an adorable bunch of grandchildren?? Perfect!! (I prefer air popped with butter and salt)
we have a Whirly-Pop stovetop popper and LOVE it! No wasted kernels at all. Popped in veg. oil and topped with "enough" butter and salt, or Epicure popcorn seasoning (tasty without all the extra salt and preservatives). Our family had a good hot air popper when I was growing up but in the 10 years we've been married now I know that they don't make 'em like they used to!
Most of the time I use my stove top popper. Love how your grands are all in a row munching popcorn and watching a movie. By the way the air popper is fun to watch:)
Easy entertainment...cute picture, cute faces!
This is a sweet post. Our hot air gave up. When I worked at a pre school some years ago we put out a huge clean sheet (only used for this purpose) and opened up the hot air popper and the light weight kernels popped up making for a real fun event for the kids. Then we would gather up all the sides and corners and everyone would scoop out a big cup full. A good party idea.
Winter is a perfect time for a movie night at grandma's...you have me thinking.
Cute pictures...but we don't do microwave either...we do the real thing! :)
Annelise,
I love the pics of your grandchildren and your home. I also love the look of your blog. I am glad to find you again here. I hope you are having a lovely weekend.
Now I'm hungry for popcorn! And I'd like a real popcorn maker again...after disposing of mine before we moved seven years ago.
Love the grands in a row.
That's how it get done in this house and that's half the entertainment...but more fun is when they see it pop right over the bowl and fly through the air.
I love that shot.
We usually pop ours on the stove, I think it's healthier. Remember the old Jiffy Pop's back in the 60s? They were so fun to watch 'grow'!
