Hear the Bells Ringing

Hear the bells ringing
They're singing that you can be born again
Hear the bells ringing
They're singing Christ is risen from the dead
The angel up on the tombstone
Said He has risen, just as He said
Quickly now, go tell his disciples
That Jesus Christ is no longer dead

Joy to the world, He has risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah

Hear the bells ringing
They're singing that you can be healed right now
Hear the bells ringing, they're singing
Christ, He will reveal it now

The angels, they all surround us
And they are ministering Jesus' power
Quickly now, reach out and receive it
For this could be your glorious hour

Joy to the world, He has risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah, hallelujah

The angel up on the tombstone
Said He has risen, just as He said
Quickly now, go tell his disciples
That Jesus Christ is no longer dead

Joy to the world, He has risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
He's risen, hallelujah
Hallelujah

Lyrics by Anne Herring and a verse added by Keith Green

Why is it you can't read the words to a song without singing them in your head. Thanks for posting this great song - Happy Easter!

It sounds like a beautiful song! I'll have to try to look it up sometime. I'm unfamiliar with most songs because I don't hear well, so music is somethings I'm not able to enjoy. But - I can google the song and play it super loudly when no one is home and get some of it. I will try to do that today!

I love this song - the lyrics and melody so capture the joy of Easter! I really enjoy your blog, Anneliese - you have a gift for capturing and articulating the joys and bittersweet moments of family life! This is not intended as a criticism, but I believe this song was written by Anne Herring?

Anonymous, thank you for your encouragement and for having me check out who actually wrote the song. You are right, it was Anne Herring (with an additional verse by Keith Green). I was left confused with incorrect information online and then dug out the record, which we have kept even though we have no player. There it was!
I love the joy that comes out in the way Keith sang this!
