I baked the cake and bought the candles . . . wondering how it would work.
Kristal helped me space them . . . and they fit perfectly.
She and Ben proceeded to light it, Ben using a lighter in each hand for speed.
You could feel the anticipation and hear the soft "whoa" around the kitchen island.
We sang the Happy Birthday song and then came the blowing challenge
It took two tries ... and smiles of victory followed suit.
Some candles got re-lit
isn't that what everyone does?
And so goes the story of the 60 candles!

Oh that is great. Love the looks on all the kids faces!
Yes....that is what everyone does. The funny thing is I can remember doing that sort of mass candle lighting with our parents...is this really "us" now?
DID you say 60? And how much fun to see the little ones enjoy watching their Grandfather blow out the candles. Real cute!

Those kids were in awe. The boys especially, it looked like they were thinking, FIRE, Cool!!!
Now that is a pile of candles! I think I somehow managed to get through my milestone birthday without having to blow out all those candles. I love the photos of the kids watching the candle-lighting ceremony!
