This is the night I'd looked forward to for a long time! We took the elevator up to the revolving restaurant to our seven o'clock table reservation
where the most breathtaking views of the city awaited us . . . exuding a celebratory atmosphere that will stand out in our memory for a long time to come.
The window scene kept changing as the restaurant slowly made a full turn once every hour. This view shows off Brockton Point of Stanley Park in the Burrard Inlet. Lions Gate Bridge is faintly seen behind it and then the North Shore mountains. In the very distance (almost hidden by the window frame) are the twin peaks, known as the Lions, because they resemble two resting lions side by side.
Canada Place is the home of the Vancouver Convention Center, the Pan Pacific Hotel and serves as a Cruise Ship Terminal.
The feeling, looking out over the city really does make for a top of the world experience . . .
so befitting a special day.
The food was beautifully presented and tasty.
The special smiles . . .
the funny stories . . .
the well wishes and the laughter around the table is what I will treasure in my heart for a long time to come.
On our second rotation and into the third we watched the skyline change color.
I was having trouble capturing the right look on my automatic setting here when Chris switched it up to manual and tried explaining to me (once more) how to change the settings.
with the changing colors of the sails.
Truly a night to remember!

What a beautiful city we live near! And so wonderful to have all the kids home to celebrate :)
What a special day! That restaurant has been a place to celebrate some special occasions in our lives. We truly are blessed to call this province (and especially the lower mainland) "home".
Oh those are beautiful shots Anneliese. I am so glad your plans came true. I am remembering the last time we revolved around in that restaurant was the night we graduated from high school in 1977. The view has changed!
And you captured it beautifully!
I'm smiling at Lovella's comment...as my high school grad finale was also a few revolutions around the city in the restaurant at the top. And yes...it's a new view now. Time to go again!
Beautiful pictures, Anneliese! And so special to share it with your children.
Our children gifted us with a surprise visit to this same restaurant for our 25th anniversary. The views are spectacular.
Talk about the view changing (tongue in cheek) ... there are two revolving restaurants in Vancouver. We celebrated my grad at the other one and I can't remember looking out at the view below us at all ... only the view around the table ... my girlfriend and I in our prom dresses with our boyfriends. (oh.. and that girlfriend is now my step-sister!)
Looks like the perfect setting for this grand celebration! Everyone looks so happy and relaxed. Beautiful photos Anneliese!
We've celebrated at that restaurant - after reading your post, I think it might be time to visit again.
What a lovely evening you must have had!
What precious memories you'll be able to take out from time to time and enjoy the experience all over again. It was a treat to see your pictures and share in the love so obvious in the prints.
Looks like a beautiful evening! Glad it was all you dreamed it would be!
So beautiful and what an amazing night to remember....truly wonderful memories that you will cherish forever.
Those are the days and nights to remember, with family in such a beautiful setting. Turning 60 is not so bad...as I continue to celebrate once more this week in Van...I love going to the city.
And I love how your kids changed your camera to manual...they know all that stuff and it makes me smile that I'm not the only one who can't figure it out.
What gorgeous pictures Anneliese - and such a lovely family get-together. I particularly love your night-time shots. I'll have to pick up some of your tips!
