Murray Trail
Yesterday we packed his Jack Bauer bag with roasted almonds, fruit and water and drove out toward Indian Canyon. After some miles of nothing to see, we arrived at the entrance to several different trails we could choose from.
And there was much to see! This native home to the Cahuilla Indians is a breathtaking contrast of rocky gorges, abundant water, hundreds of plants and barren desert.
We decided to take the less visited Murray Canyon. It's an easy trail that promises some lush scenery and waterfalls at the end of the 2.5 mile hike.
We walked through a grove of California Fan Palm trees in their dishevelled state.
How did he get the camera?
The trail led through a desert hillside filled with yellow flowering brittle bushes. We passed hikers who talked about seeing snakes, and one even offered advice on how to get them to come out. We made sure we didn't give them any reason to.
Always in the distance you could see unusual rock formations, scattered about.

Beautiful pictures of the rocks and flowers and especially the one of the two of you .. thanks for sharing Anneliese.
Vacations are so great....a day of shopping, a day of hiking.....looks like you're having a wonderful time!
We haven't done Murray Trail, but have hiked many of the trails in that area. Looks like you had a perfect day...and we may follow your steps on our next visit. We have encountered the snakes. Kathy (MGCC)
Looks like so much fun!! Thanks for sharing it with us.
What a change from the "normal" Palm Springs vacation. Glad you got out and did something new!
The desert is great in the Spring. Beautiful photos Anneliese. Blessings...
Ohh.. how interesting a hike.. so different from our home landscape. There is beauty in every corner of God's creation.
Thanks for letting me walk behind you where I didn't have to worry about snakes!
I'm glad you are having a good time! Looks a lot warmer than what we have here !!
Oooh, I would worry about snakes going through that deer grass. You have had such nice trips and daytrips lately
What a fun hike..I love the different rock formations.
We've always planned to hike at Indian Canyon...and have never yet made it. It looks like it would be worth the effort. Next time!
Looks like a wonderful hike. We drove through Joshua Mountain last year...which I'm sure if you are regulars, you've all seen it. But it too was so amazing...the rock formations and the flowers.
Isn't the blue sky the best backdrop?
Isn't it amazing what can bloom in the desert?! I love the desert mallows! And what a beautiful picture of you & Dad!
these are such great pics.....
i am so happy that the both of you enjoy good health to enjoy what God's beautiful creation offers.
I love this canyon - it's so beautiful and well worth going to visit. The last time we were there(2 years ago?) there were more cacti in bloom than had been seen for over 50 years. It was spectacular.
