Surprise Baby Shower

Yesterday, amidst the all day coming and going of grandkids and some menfolk deciding it was a good day to come for lunch as well . . . (did someone put out a sign? ). . . I could hardly wait to get a moment to try out a cake that involved no flour, butter, eggs or icing sugar. The idea came from Judy's blog and I will gladly give more details if anyone is interested. But for now I want to focus on the reason for the cake.

Larissa lives in Victoria and does not come out that often. She was not here for our extended family gathering right after Christmas. But this week she face-booked my girls (her cousins) to let them know she was coming out and would like to see them. I found out and immediately thought, "surprise baby shower". . . especially since she is so hard to surprise. Monday the shower was planned, Thursday we surprised her.

Everyone made it! These are the best times. The times you do not stress out before and you make the most of the little time you  have. Kristal hosted, Julene decorated and Oma brought Napoleon Tortes. There were veggies and some appetizers. It was great!

My sister, Monika, was the honored Grammie (Oma) this time . . .

as her daughter, Larissa, is expecting her first.

Practical gifts were shared . . . we chatted up a storm . . . never would have guessed that most of us had just been together last week . . . and we ate, of course. Has it ever occurred to you, how good times so often include eating together?

And since we do not know if the little one is a he or a she, we will continue to wait in anticipation . . . but for now, this new mom-to-be has some of her baby's essential needs taken care of.

Now that was quick and good thinking on all of your parts! Love it when a last minute plan comes together nicely. Love the diaper cake!

I love that diaper cake and the little laundry line over the mirror. A baby shower is just the nicest reason to get together!

Those are truly the most favorite moments...plan quickly, and everyone brings their favorites for one special niece. I love the idea that they do not know the gender...its makes for just a bit more excitement. I loved waiting to hear the doctor's announcement.

What a sweet get together. Love the cake, and it doesn't even have any calories or carbs!

A surprise shower is not so common anymore...and it looks like you pulled it off beautifully! Blessings to the mom-to-be and the baby she will soon be meeting.

Oh so fun! I love the onsie garland...so cute.
You did a fantastic job on that diaper cake. It is such a great idea.
For awhile I thought the shower was at your house...but no...just your furniture which found a new home.

Isn't it odd how last minute things often work out beautifully? And get good attendance? Maybe it's the reward for seizing the moment and opportunity that comes your way.

How special that you all came together for a very special new mommy. I can imagine how fun it was to put this shower on with your own girls. Cute clothes line....and cake.
