Where's the Good in Goodbye?

It begins with acknowledging special relationships . . .

On one of the last fine days before the move, we took Lacey to the Vancouver Game Farm.

Since she loves animals, this was the best place to spend some time . . .

She was intrigued with the climbing fences . . . that's what they are for, right?

She loved pointing at the sign with the pictures describing the appropriate animal and then the actual animal. Fun to see her make the connection.

A bit disconcerted about the rust that rubbed off on her hand, though.

The Game Farm is unlike a zoo in that it houses the wildlife in as much a natural environment as possible. It's beautiful just walking the paths.

This peacock showed off his crown by turning his head in every direction, but his train remained tucked in.

Not sure what they are looking at here . . .

But she did not want to leave before we saw monkeys. So glad we found such a cute one!

And it ends with the assurance that we'd go to the moon and back to see each other again.

Your love for each other is so evident.....it will last a life time! ALL things work together for GOOD!

....and you will keep that promise, I know. One of the most difficult aspects of our lives is living far from grandchildren. Mine will arrive in 48 days.
But who's counting!

What a special day with your granddaughter! A memorable day before moving...

I understand. None of our grands live here, but today our youngest grandson is here to visit. So it's a special day. I'm making his very favorite food - mashed potatoes! The little things matter!

Bitter sweet...that last outing to the zoo! Great memories...for both of you.

And some day you are going to share this blog link with her and let her know what was going through your heart..as of now...she knows so little of the understanding of saying goodbye...except that you will be there shortly again.
Cherished moments from a Grandmother's heart.

What a sweet post. I feel your sorrow for the departure that's coming. Aren't you thankful that we live in an age where communication with far-away places is more convenient?! It makes the distance seem a little less. You're a great grammy!

You just made me cry, I can't even fathem the thought of saying good-bye to my grandbabies.
May God comfort you when your empty arms are longing for her gentle hugs.
love you

Such great pictures!! Haha, I have to laugh...looks like you even captured the very moment she got you sick :) Such a glorious sunny day, one Lacey will remember for a long time. Thank you so much for giving her such great memories with her Papa and Mimi! And now that she's better, I think there's a certain zoo in a certain prairie that needs some exploring.... ;)

Oh my goodness, your posts these last couple of weeks have been read with a big lump in my throat! What a neat outing you had with Lacey. Thinking of you...

OH such beautiful photos! I love that she will see you so soon. I bet she'll be reassured to have you in her new house.

What precious memories you have created.

It looks like you had a wonderful time.
And I can't seem to find the "good" in "goodbye", either. I want to be with my grandbabies 24/7. I do get to see them all a few times a week, though. It just never seems to be enough.
But - as I sat here typing this, I got two phone calls. It seems a baby sitter is needed for all three grand children. So, I will be seeing them ALL today! :-)

Beautiful post! Sure miss that mine aren't around all the time. Glad you are enjoying those early formative years. Some of mine are old enough to start living their own lives and can't always join up for a date with Oma. I don't like living in the past - but sometimes I do wish those days back! Blessings for a Happy Easter!
