Yesterday we, as family and friends, gathered to witness the marriage vows of Andrew and Naomi. We sat near the front, with his side of the family, including another uncle and aunt and numerous cousins.
It's a wonderful feeling . . . this feeling of family gathered to celebrate. And as we do, we remember . . . I'm sure it's something different for each of us. But for me, as I watched him - tall and handsome - standing front and center, I thought of the time we took him camping with our family, as a four-year-old. For this trip, we had four kids, with him as the youngest.
I was caught by surprise at the tears that threatened to spill.
So many "pasts" converging into this special day!
It was not long ago, yet so many moons ago,
that the two musicians were flower girls at Andrew's parents' wedding . . .
and now their daughters were walking down the aisle.
He looked like he was rather enjoying this walk.
A tissue was passed.
The ceremony included a time of focusing on the God who brought them together. The God who
exemplifies love and will continue to be faithful in their lives.
It was her father who challenged them with what the Bible says about marriage.
His Gaelic lilt of the tongue adding some sense of humor,
but not leaving out the seriousness of the occasion.
They each said "I do"
They lit the unity candle.
They signed
(there was a spring in her step when that was done)
and it was sealed with a kiss.
From the limo, the bride and groom followed a Scottish tradition of throwing money as they left. This came as a welcome surprise to the lucky kids.
I kind of like the idea myself.
The idea of giving and it will be given unto you...
full measure and bubbling over.
The flower girls also got to ride in the vintage Rolls Royce.
Their most interesting comment about it was that there were no seatbelts.
Never mind carseats.
Life used to be so easy.
The reception at Northview Golf and Country Club was a perfect setting on this beautiful afternoon,
with some time to play while the bride and groom were otherwise occupied.
And the day they have prepared for -
for so long -
came to an end.
May they live happily ever after.

Oh how lovely! Those little flower girls are so so sweet! Love the father in his kilt! Looks like one wonderful day filled with many memories to cherish...
I've been looking foreward to seeing these photos-especially of one very lovely flower girl. Thanks for all the beautiful photos and meaningful thoughts. Loved the ones of Jules and Chystal followed by their daughters. Isn't God good!
What a special day! Best wishes to the happy couple!
Awww - truly a prince and princess wedding. The flower girls and the musician girls - also so beautiful. You got some really great pictures of that wedding! Families who meet for such meaningful celebrations are really blessed!

A prince and princess wedding...for sure! You captured it beautifully. What a great idea...throwing coins for the picking.
Beautiful pictures! The wedding looks magical.
I can't read the tiny cursive font, though. :-(
Thank you for the wedding photos Anneliese. It is always so special when immediate family is involved in the ceremony.
Everything looked so beautiful. I love the brides dress with all the tulle.
How sweet that the flowergirls little girls were now the flowergirls. Very fun!
Best Wishes to the happy couple!
Weddings are intriguing. The romance, the elegance...they are all there and may the be blessed with a togetherness the rest of their lives.
What a beautiful day to be a part of! It was like a fairytale wedding ... May you, Andrew & Naomi, live happily ever after!
What a gorgeous wedding - it looks perfect! Love the picture of the flower girls' moms when they were flower girls for the groom's parents.
Patty... I wonder if the print gets picked up in a different font on your computer - if you do not have this one availble - because it's quite a fair size and hardly cursive. I will check into it when I have time, but I have found it hard to find one I like.
Appreciate the input, though.
No wonder the tears of joy were close to spilling over...that is so special!
Beautiful pictures of what looked like a beautiful wedding day! Cute, CUTE flower girls (both generations)!! I love the pic of Grandpa with the flower girl.
So incredibly beautiful from start to finish!!
Stunningly beautiful wedding on so many levels! I admit a fondness for kilted men, flower girls in navy, and vintage Rolls for conveying the newlyweds away. We rode in a 1936 Rolls after our own wedding...with the driver in grey tails and gloves!
Could you pass the tissue box, please, Anneliese?
